Solar Financial Analysis and Tools
OnGrid Solar has developed a sophisticated Solar Financial Analysis tool to help solar designers, estimators, and customers evaluate the feasibility of installing a solar electric system for their home or business.

The tool takes in data regarding historic electric usage information, rate schedule, location, orientation, shading, inflation, tax, and loan cost information, etc. The tool will help a designer determine the correct size of a system and allow the designer to input estimated system cost. The tool will then perform several financial analyses including:
  •     Internal Rate of Return (IRR) over 25 years
  •     Cash Flow of loan cost compared to electric bill savings
  •     System Resale Value based on new appraisal value
  •     Total lifecycle payback over 25 years compared to cost
  •     Simple payback (for commercial systems only)
This tool can be applied to Residential, Commercial, Municipal and Non-Profit applications. A user’s guide and default settings will guide the user for maximum effectiveness and clarity.

The tool includes rate schedules & rebates for PG&E, City of Palo Alto Utilities & Silicon Valley Power, SCE, SDG&E and SMUD utilities. There is also a user controled input for time-of-use, flat and tiered rate schedules, for areas outside of the above utilities.

A user driven tool is now available:
The tool is customizable as a sales tool for a designer/vendor. Results will remain accurate as long as a valid, up to date license code is held by the user. Graphical results, financial timeline, assumptions, and other data will be printable, suitable for customer presentation and review.

The tool is designed for use by solar installers and salespeople, and is suitable for inclusion in sales presentations and proposals, as well as marketing and other presentations.

The goal is to dramatically improve sales and credibility for vendors wishing to demonstrate the financial payback for solar. An additional goal of the tool and of OnGrid is to provide solar financial analysis & payback information and education for the solar, real estate, lending, appraisal, investment, and other relevant industries.

The tool also produces filled out sales forms:
  • CEC R1 Rebate Reservation Request Form
  • CEC R7 Pilot Performance Based Incentive Form
  • 3rd Party Authorization for use by the CEC
  • 3rd Party Authorization for use by the dealer with the utility to set up net metering and change to TOU metering
  • PG&E Net Metering agreement for customer signature
OnGrid Solar seeks to provide the best tool on the market, and wants to include customer feedback and suggestions. Upgrades will be regular and easy to incorporate into your suite of sales tools.
